How strikes work in Italy

Transport strikes in Italy must be announced in advance, and a minimum service runs during guaranteed time slots (Law 146/1990). In recent GTT strikes, the urban network and metro were guaranteed from 6:00 to 9:00 and 12:00 to 15:00. Outside those slots, buses, trams and the metro may stop. Each strike has its own GTT notice with the exact slots, so always check it.

Strikes are sometimes called off at the last minute, so check the official GTT notice on the day.

Dates come from the Ministry of Transport's official strike list (scioperi.mit.gov.it). We aren't affiliated with GTT.
